Looks like it will be a cheap redemption option for AAdvantage members:

South Pacific - Indian Subcontinent / Middle East:
30k Y
45k J
60k F

If you want to go somewhere in Europe, use your QFF points.

Zone 3 = 2400mi covers Eastern Europe.

I see you mentioned ATH...

Have been searching for availability there, but nothing online, do you know if you have to call.

Given the codeshares have only just been loaded I would imagine yield control would be waiting to see how they go before opening up reward buckets.

I was seeing Aaward availability to LHR via Dubai a month before the interim approval was given.
I dont think you will see all QF codeshares on EK as Aawards or AA miles earning as in the past I have experienced non earning on QF codeshares on non OW airlines.
The beauty of the QF/EK tie up for Aadvantage users is the decrease in points required Europe to Australia

While I am sure AA members will be able to book on QF1/ QF2... (ie QF metal)

I would be surprised if AA (and indeed other oneworld members) are able to book classic(or equivalent) awards on QF codeshares on EK metal.

I originally never said anything about using AA points ex-DXB.

Here is an example of something that you can book now:

LHR-DXB 25k QFF + 212.75 GBP (Economy), 37.5k QFF + 299.75 GBP (Premium Economy)
DXB-SYD 30k AA + 48.90 USD (Economy), 45k AA + 48.90 USD (Business), 60k AA + 48.90 USD (First)

That being said, depending on where you're going in Europe, it might be almost as cheap just to buy a ticket to/from DXB.

e.g. EK DXB-ATH-DXB is only around ~850 AUD.
