Does anyone know if this is still "a thing"
I know you used to be able to get AAA discounts on hotels etc in the USA by showing your NRMA card but I'm not sure if this is still applicable.
I've tried the google search but not a lot of recent info is coming up.

I will send NRMA an email but thought someone here may know as I don't know how long it will take to get a reply.

Yes, still a thing but less of a benefit as hotel chains try to undercut OTAs with prepaid rates even with AAA.

Hilton member rate is often the same as AAA but you will see more variation these days. Make sure you’ve loaded the AAA code in your HH profile to get it to stick.

For IHG, the AAA rate search doesn’t always appear straight away. Force the Country to USA using the Language selection ie English / USA….

They still can be very handy for a placeholder booking. Monitor rates and rebook if they improve closer to your stay.

Thanks, I'm looking at a small hotel which has an AAA rate that is lower than the sale rate by $10 a night which isn't a huge amount - but over a week in US$ works out to be enough for me to care.

and at Outlets, flash the AAA on your NRMA card at the Management Office to get a discount book

.....whenever I have booked the AAA hotel rate, in the US, I have never actually been asked for proof on arrival anyway...(I did have the card)

428 is the magic number if you need a code to prebook an AAA rate. It used to be on the back of the physical NRMA cards. I fortunately still have one!

oh fantastic!
What about NRMA Blue? anyone know if that qualifies? Or is Classic the lowest tier to get the AAA Benefits?
I just joined Blue as I got a free for a year promo, but was thinking of upgrading anyway.

Read the threads linked earlier.

I had presumed the AAA logo would be on the card, even Blue.

Yes, but you need to get a physical card. The app version doesn’t display the AAA logo and they’re not sending physical cards anymore? 😔

Edit: apparently the last issue of cards didn’t have the AAA logo!

Yes I read them, they are many years old so not current info unfortunately.
I only just joined so haven't got anything in the post yet. But upon reading I don't think we get a card anymore so not sure how I'm supposed to show them anything.
In the booking terms it says I will be asked to show proof when checking in and the name must exactly match the discount card.

You could try contacting NRMA for advice on proof of AAA membership?

I’d rather not as I don’t live in Victoria
At least with NRMA I actually use the roadside assistance
I actually rolled over a VW roadside package (it was cheaper than NRMA) but still have Gold “Club” membership. Not sure if that’s why my app doesn’t show AAA. Probably not based on the thread I posted above.

Is there an NRMA office *anywhere* nearby you? Actually not sure if there are NRMA offices anymore… I miss those fold out strip maps and hotel guides… 😔
