Unexpectedly, I received this from AA
"You've been exclusively selected to receive complimentary American Airlines AAdvantage® Platinum status through April 19, 2020. Plus, we'll give you ten 500-mile upgrades just for registering — no strings attached. Once you complete the promotion, you'll receive ten additional 500-mile upgrades.
Register before you travel and no later than January 30, 2020."
... and there is a link to register and so on.
I have flown with AA a few times (maybe 5?) on US domestic extensions of QF trips (QFF number quoted) over the years. Other than that, zero business with AA.
I was somewhat excited until I was enlightened (thanks Matt) that the AA Plat status is equivalent to QFF Gold, which I have. I just thought it might be interesting for others to know.... it looks like something you could talk AA into giving you for "free" if it suited you.
