AA rewards "calculators"

Hi all
Just a quick one. I have found the partner airline rewards table here and I found the AA rewards table as well.

I just found this link to the oneworld rewards
table. I am currently planning my work next year and I might have a conference to go to in Europe next northern summer. I will get a DONE4 J class ticket from work - I am just wondering how practical it might be to get mrs sim to come along on a rewards ticket :idea:

I will only have about 140K points by late March (maybe) for a july departure - might that be a bit ambitious to try? Not likely to succeed?

That very much depends on the routing (and cabin you want mrs simongr to fly in), and to a lesser extent day of the week and flight (where there are multiple on a given route). On some it would be quite likely and others not a hope.

It would have to be J cabin (I think a Y seat would get me a quickie divorce on a stop off in Las Vegas ).

Its definitely something to ponder - if I cant get her on the plane - then I will maximise the routing for miles - and if she can get on the plane then it wil be the quickest possible - potentially.

Again it varies. I have managed to get one world business awards intra-europe at very short notice. However Oz/NZ to/from US is much harder, and Oz/NZ to/from SCL even harder still. Just some examples.

While there are seasonal variations you could get some idea by using the QF website to look for awards (dummy booking) for say December on sample routing.

A oneworld award in J class for AA will be 130000 points for 20000 miles,25000 miles needs 150000 points.I was in a similiar position recently.I found the AA staff however went out of their way to help.I planned out my route and it came out to just over 19900 miles.However it depended on getting 2 BNE-LAX business awards.I had checked on QF and knew there were some BNE-SYD-NRT awards available so when the direct LAX award was unavailable suggested that.However those seats were not available for AA.In less than 5 minutes the agent had me booked via HKG and NRT.As I had originally asked for the direct BNE-LAX award the mileage was calculated on that.
If you cant get a routing for the whole trip under 20000 miles then suggest get what you can and pay for wifes final leg eg from SIN back to home.No rule that says an award on oneworld has to end up at the start point.
By the way I rang th USA.It isnt too expensive and much more likely to get satisfaction.

As I had originally asked for the direct BNE-LAX award the mileage was calculated on that.

The mileage wasn't quoted in that matter due to your asking for a direct flight but due to the fact that AA counts mileage on the award flight based on distance to stopover point rather than (as QF would do) count the distance of each individual leg.

e.g. LHR-MIA-ORD would be counted at 3953 miles rather than 4425+1197=5622 miles
