AA record locator

Hi all
Pretty basic question - I have a CircleAsia booked through QF (not added my QF number) that is mostly CX and flights. How can I track down my AA record locator so I can link my AA number in?
Is it as simple as calling QF?

In my younger and less informed days (last xmas), my DONE4 was booked through a TA and QF (if only I had known then what you guys have taught me since).

The only way I could get the AA record locator was to call AA.

Do you have any AA sectors? I would not think so on a Circle Asia fare. If no AA sectors, then there is no reason for the booking to make its way into Sabre and hence no reason to have an AA reloc.

Just call the airline that made the reservation and ask them to add your AA FF number to all flight segments.

If you do have one or more AA segments and you know the detail, it should be quite simple to locate them.

Go to My Reservations on AA.com and enter the following details:

• Passenger First Name
• Passenger Last Name
• Carrier
• Flight Number
• From (airport)
• Departure Date

Click GO and you're on your way to select seats, add AAdvantage number, etc.

I have never had that feature work successfully for me. Always had to find the reloc another way.

When I made that post I tested it - it worked fine for me ...

My general experience is that , if logged into an AA account , it is possible to search for own bookings just by name and flight info

If not logged in, or looking for someone elses flights, then the record locator is required

I avoid logging on as (currently) I do not want my AAdvantage number anywhere near my AA bookings.

Anyway there may be some type of cookie issue here, as I just tested this out using IE on a PC which I had not used before.

1. Selecting: Reservations->My Reservations->Continue Without Logging On, I was presented with only the option to enter Passenger First Name, Passenger Last Name & Record Locator. Under "If you do not know your Record Locator:" was the following:
   • Login to view a list of your reservations
   • Contact AA reservations.
2. The Carrier, Flight Number, From & Departure Date options I referred to in post #4 were not available.
   
3. Logging on (selecting "This is a public/shared computer, do not remember me.") and going to My reservations gave the full set of options as well as the following under "If you do not know your Record Locator:"
   • Enter the Passenger First and Last Name
   • Select the Carrier
   • Enter the Flight Number and Departure City
   • Select the Departure Date
   • Click Go
4. I logged out and re-entered "My Reservations" and only the three options appeared.
   
5. Logging back in (selecting "Remember My AAdvantage Number") and the full set of options appeared.
   
6. Logged out and re-entered "My Reservations" without logging back in and all options appeared.
   
7. Logging on (selecting "This is a public/shared computer, do not remember me.") and going to My reservations gave the full set of options.
   
8. I logged out and re-entered "My Reservations" and only the three options appeared.

I guess AA want some sort of traceable audit on looking up reservations. Having a stored AAdvantage number would strengthen such an audit.

The answer is simple. AA hates me. Must be why they have never sent me the alleged quarterly e-mail with my eVIP balance.

serfty is probably right about it being a cookie issue. Next time I need to use the feature I'll try a bit harder and not just ring the ExPlat desk right away!

That's it! It was bad enough when I wasn't getting a quarterly e-mail. Not getting a monthly e-mail is three times as bad!

I demand compensation!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is meant by "AA" and "AA Record Locator"

AA = IATA 2 letter code for American Airlines

AA record locator = AA booking reference, which contains information about your flight reservation.
