Noticed this on bestflights.com.au this morning:
* American Airlines Super Quick Sale to San Jose via Tokyo....Feb-Apr05
Price: From $799 return plus taxes (to be paid by 28/02/05)
By registering with the Platinum challenge desk, and leaving from Melbourne, these flights alone (MEL-NRT-SJC) return would generate enough miles to "win" the AA platinum challenge (10,214 miles via http://gc.kls2.com/) and gain access to the QP
and AA platinum status. Of course you'd have to check what class of ticket and earning rate, but even @ AA's heavily discounted ticket 50% rate you'd still do it. Thoughts?
