So thinking about LHR to DFW or maybe SFO.

Besides difference in taxes.

Any other comments on choosing BA over AA??

If you are travelling in J I'd be tempted to try the new 77W of AAs - similar layout to CX and big improvement on 772 J.

I took AA F LHR-LAX a few years ago and while it was not as good as QF F, I was reasonably happy (have to say though I am not usually too difficult to please), though the second 'light' meal - some sort of turkey roll IIRC - had something in it I really did not like. Serves me for not listening to the description properly. The individual seat layout is sort of similar to QF on the 380 but older and not as automated (though 1-2-1 instead of 1-1-1). IFE was reasonable (watched the entire LOTR trilogy). After I had to request a second glass of red at lunch, I could not stop them refilling the glass (well, eventually I had to otherwise I would have rolled off the plane).

I have not done a similar trip on BA so cannot compare, but I cannot imagine it being that much better (but someone else may have a comparison).

The AA Flagship lounge was lower in standard than the BA J lounge in T3 (in fact, lower than a domestic QP) - IMHO of course. The flight was a daytime one.

Hmmm. I've done LHR-YYZ in old BA F before.

I'm suspecting the main difference will in fact be the T5 lounges (inc. CCR) which I've used before.

Not sure they're worth the extra taxes though ;)

AA have upgraded their F longhaul service.I was very satisfied with the service in December last year DFW-NRT.It was on the old 772.I prefer the AA beds-they fit my body shape much better tha others I have tried.
Differences to old service-Your bed is made up for you.
-now get PJs
_wines better and they offer you a tasting of all the wines on board before you select what to have with your meal.
-felt food quality had improved.in the last 2 years the light meal we have had has always been Uno's pizza.
And my opinion is that it is better than QF F(on 747).
Then again when in AA F I am always on an Aaward.

I did the AA51 LHR-DFW flight in J last month. It was on one of the brand new 773s - only ten days old, and it was fabulous.

I was looking to maximise my points for a transatlantic flight, so the BA flight into SFO looked very tempting, but I've flown longhaul with BA before and they just don't have the same approach. Their planes are often old and tired, their staff seem to regard the passengers as interfering with their holiday and it's just not as nice as it could be.

AA, OTOH, take pleasure in making the passengers happy. When they bring round the icecream sundae and top it off with cream and nuts, oh boy oh boy, do they know how to press my buttons!

Realistically, both are pretty good, and certainly a long way beyond Y for comfort and satisfaction, but the new AA has the edge. The inflight international wifi certainly helped make my flight with American an unforgettable experience. Fast internet from my seat for a decent price. (Well, it was actually free for a limited period, but even the full rate isn't bad.)

Thanks guys..... I'm tempted to try the AA F hard product, I've seen the CCR before ;)
