Hi all

Have been using 20k miles to fly transcontinental in J class between PER and SYD for a decade now. Thanks to you all for alerting me!! (Great deal!)

However recently I’ve noticed only direct flights show..

Eg on QF website it shows options syd/Mel/per for 41k and AA site used to show these but now it only shows direct options.

Is it possible to still book via Mel? (Over the phone maybe?) or is it only point to point now.

Thank you in advance.

22K since a few years ago!

I’ve also seen the indirect routing options with strange availability depending on search parameters. Very good chance this is married segment logic courtesy of AA and/or QF (and passed through to AA) that seems to have been implemented in the last few months.

For my recent booking I needed a PER-MEL A330 however there were no direct services available. So I booked an indirect via MEL to SYD and just paid the extra ~$50 extra in taxes. I’ll jump off at MEL with HLO.

BTW, what is WF?

Oops, my bad: QF sorry have just edited.

I just booked one today and it was still 20k miles.

But the last few times it’s only shown up direct non stop options with no options via MEL or ADL which do show if you were to book on QF site.

Just wondering if anyone’s had any luck booking QF married segments via another point (eg MEL in this case for me, to grab an a330 with U class availability) and how to do this using AA miles ?

Thanks

Oops, got confused with BA partner award miles at 22K.

@CaptJCool Similar great value with BA Avios. If you had the flexibility to book an award via AA or BA you’d end up saving almost 4x the Qantas ticket price.

Yes both my sons have been doing AA miles to go PER-SYD in Business class. One son is now based in Adelaide and he is delighted with flying ADL-MEL for 8000 points in economy.
