Looking for thoughts here.
Completing a DONE4 shortly (will provide a trip report).
Current booking includes the following.

SYD-LHR-GIB-LHR (transit) then
BA115 LONDON HRW 17:00 NEW YORK JFK 19:50 B744

4 days in NY, then a crazy SC run!!
AA1165 NEW YORK JFK 07:10 MIAMI INTL 10:20 B762
AA602 MIAMI INTL 12:40 DALLAS FW 14:45 A 2:55 B757
AA278 DALLAS FWTH 15:25 ANCHORAGE 19:10 B757
AA290 ANCHORAGE 22:05 CHICAGO OHR 06:55 B757
AA1184 CHICAGO OHR 12:35 NEWARK 15:55 MD80
AA119 NEWARK 18:50 LOS ANGELES 22:00 B757
CX881 LOS ANGELES 01:40 HONG KONG 07:15 B77A

Couple of questions for the forum.

1. Am I correct choosing BA for the LHR-JFK flight?
My initial reasons were
1. Departure from T5 and better lounges,
2. BA true-flat bed (versus AA lie-flat)
3. 747 upper deck
I also think I would have saved AA fuel fines by not booking AA? (AA ticketed DONE4)
Downsides probably less chance of an upgrade.

2. Do I have too many flights on a 757 ??
To / from ANC I don't have a choice!
The original ORD-EWR route was picked with a flight about 2 hrs later to give me time to go into Chicago central as a break, and was on a CR7, however the flight times changed and the original flight now misconnects the 1hr D-D MCT in EWR (crazy given MCT in JFK and DFW is much less). EWR was picked so I could get the First SCs (JFK has the 3-class planes so would book into Biz)
Having looked at it a bit further now seems I can fly ORD-BOS-LAX on 738/ 763 or ORD-MIA-LAX on 763/ 763 (earlier flights) 757 / 762 (later flights).
I gather the 763s are lie flat, whereas the 757/ 762 are more standard business.
Is this worth another $125 change fee (will be the 3rd!!) for better comfort on the cross-country ??

3. If the answer is Yes and change it to BOS, would you risk a 30min connection in BOS (right on the MCT). If missed means back to the later 757 to LAX.

I was underwhelmed by the AA Flagship lounge in T3 (it was 'adequate', but no better than your average business class QP, in fact probably not as good) - certainly T5 J class Galleries was better (I imagine Galleries F would be better still). I think CX have recently refurbed lounge(s) in T3, but no idea what they're like. So you've probably got it right on that count.

I went DFW-ANC-DFW in F on the 757 and had a sore @rse on at least one of the legs - they are the least comfortable premium cabin seats I can recall.

I did transcon (LAX-JFK) on the 3-class 762, and yep, just a reclining seat in J. Comfortable enough though. The F seats looked the same, just a 2-1-2 config vs. 2-2-2 in J. Wasn't aware 763s did transcons, and how many classes they offer - might be the go.

Made the call and paid the US$125 cash to get myself on the 763 having looked at the vids of the seats and plane layout. I think I will appreciate the comfort of the 763 after the overnight ANC-ORD flight on the 757 seats. Simple change done through AA Brisbane who charged A$142 (88c xrate)

Boston
Now have a 5-hr layover at Boston.
Looking at doing a very quick tour of the city. Thinking MBTA Express Boat to Long Wharf, dump bags at Marriot, then explore North End and Boston Common, then back to airport by Blue line train.
Any recommendations on must sees? And is this feasible in the time?

Los Angeles
Also got a 5-hr flight at LAX (so I can take the later arriving CX flight to HK)
Thinking of doing the In n Out run. Been 5 yrs since I last frequented at Fishermans Wharf.
How do you do an In-N-Out run from LAX or other LA area airports? [merged threads] - FlyerTalk Forums

I take it you are flying on the one day GIB-LHR-JFK.

An option would be to try BA1 LCY-JFK (tech stop in SNN).

I would choose BA>AA for LHR-JFK but others might go AA. I think you can mount arguements for and against both.

Good call - the AA B757s are pretty awful for seating comfort, to put it mildly. :)
