Detailed in my trip report.

After hearing from our manager in San Francisco about the delay of flight 194 on October 13, we wanted to take the opportunity to apologize to you. That situation must have been frustrating (to say the least) and we are genuinely sorry that we didn't get you to Boston as planned.
It's completely reasonable for our valued customers to rely on the scheduled arrival and departure of our flights. For that reason, the on-time operation of our flights is one of our most important service goals. While the delay of your flight was necessary, you can be sure that we will continue our efforts to depart as scheduled. Sometimes an apology and promise to do better just aren't adequate and so we've added 6,000 Customer Service bonus miles to your AAdvantage® account.

This is much appreciated, it's just that I don't ever use my aa number as credit to qff. Still nice gesture. guess all aa members received this.

I hope qantas are reading this, a much better way to handle things.

... Too bad those miles might not be of much use to you.
Actually you are likely to be surprised how used AAdvantage miles can be; 6000 AA miles is 60% of the amount needed for economy award travel on Qantas from PER-AKL or CNS-ADL or CBR-DRW or SYD-CBR - in fact any one-way journey wholly within Australia and New Zealand.

They are also 40% of the miles required to upgrade AA flights on any North American journey "in the one direction".

Any idea how they linked your AA number with you flying and crediting to your Qantas account?

I registered for aa advantage a few yrs. ago after reading on this site the benefits. I've never used my aa number when booking and yet I find pts. credited. I have no idea how that happens.

Serfty, I have 7500 aa pts. is this good for an award flt. one way in Aust. as you suggested?

10k one way economy , 17.5k one way business from anywhere in Australia to anywhere in Australia/New Zealand

Hey Dave,
Is there a resource some where that lists the cost for Non AA flights using AA pts?

(when you try to do a non-AA metal flight in the site it tells you to contact reservations)
