Would be QF for SYD-LAX and AA within US and
class would be economy or discount economy.
 
Yes, Golf888, it's very hard to tell without those basic details as the earning tables for each Oneworld carrier are different.

As we posted at the same time, your answer doesn't go far enough unfortunately. What exact fare class are the tickets purchased (Y,H,B,L, etc??). Different tickets will probably be in diffferent classes, but most QF and AA flights would probably qualify (see the QF Table and AA Table respectively).

At the moment, i don't know which fare class. Ticket not booked yet.
Based on previous US trip i have done early this year, it looks
like the fare class at that time was K. I did receive 1mile=1point
for all segments (QF & AA) at that time (in Jan 2005).
