Hello,

I have just booked an award flight on Qantas but using AA miles. Who do I contact to allocate a seat?

Confirmation received at 10.05pm tonight. My "record locator" which I presume what Qantas normally call a Booking Reference is not working on Manage my booking on Qantas.

It may even have something to do with the AA website. I have been trying to pay the taxes for my return flight which is on hold but haven't been able to.

thanks.

When I have booked an Aaward on QF AA have allocated a seat-but only a limited selection.if you cant do it on line then ring AA-QF cant do anything about an AA award. On 1 occasion when I couldn't fix things-me on an AA award, mrsdrron on a QF ticket I ended up getting our TA to sort it.
You can pay online using your Aussie CC.I put in my real address and just put a 0 in front of post code-however you do have to check if it is a valid zip code.I looked here-
Free Zip Code Database List - U.S. Zip Code Census data and Maps with free lookups.

PS aa.com was down for service earlier today which might have been the problem.

Can you get your Qantas Amadeus PNR - with a flight on Qantas one must exist. This is different from AA's SABPRE PNR.

One simple way is to call Qantas armed with your booking details and ask them to look it up for you.

You may then be able to go into www.qantas.com/yourbooking and do the deed.

Question answered and in the best way possible!!!

I rang Qantas and whilst they couldn't search my booking with the AA Record Locator, I provided the ticket number and they were able to look it up. I could have purchased a seat there, but being only QF Bronze and having never had anything to do with AA bar purchasing some miles over the last month, I couldn't get any bulkhead seats so chose to leave it. Expert flyer was showing 80A, 80K and 71D as taken. He did however give me a Qantas booking reference.

I then went into the booking on the QF website and lo and behold, 80K was available!!! So based on this forum it was a no brainer to pay $25 so whipped out the credit card and paid!!!

Would I be becoming too much of an AFF member if I made sure that I paid the $25 on the Macquarie Platinum Visa and am now wondering if I get 2 points per $1 spend???

I did exactly this on an AA award on QF within Australia. Enquired about my booking over the phone, selected seats (limited seating as per lower status) and linked it to another award with a friend and asked them for the Qantas/Amadeus PRN, then I was able to view it on the Qantas website, but I can't remember if I could then change seats, I think I could though.

receipt received all good.

Am now going to the USA and England but at this stage not getting back because AA.com seems to be having problems and can't process my hold reservation!!

Will try again in the morning.
