The current bonus for buying miles means that 45000 miles (sufficient for award from Europe to Australia) costs only $US930. This is competitive with buying a one-way ticket (always a legacy of using QF points to get there but not enough to get back). Does anyone have experience of booking AA award flight back from LHR/CDG back to Oz? I'm wondering about availability (same as QF?) as well as taxes, charges and booking fees. Any help will be much appreciated.

You are probably aware of this but in case anyone reading this isn't - the AA miles you purchase go into your account the next day but the bonus miles don't appear for some time later, think weeks.
