Hi sorry if this question has been answered before, but I am wondering if I find CX flights on the Qantas website, will AA be able to see them as well, and allow awards for those cabin seats? I've read that there has been some instances in the past when AA will not allow CX redemptions. I know that calling the call centre would yield me some pretty quick answers, but I'm currently on the planning stage and would rather get an answer from someone here that has redeemed flights already via AA on CX metal.

The flights I'm currently interested in are:
Perth - Hong Kong
Hong Kong - San Francisco / New York City
Looking at the Qantas website, they appear to be in abundance.

The interesting thing for me now is, I've accumulated a few number of AA points from purchasing during bonus periods. I only need now top up my accounts with a small number of points via Amex --> SPG --> AA.

Now all I need to decide is to either
- Transfer points for Amex MR to CX directly and book flights
- Transfer points to AA and book the same flights

Any thoughts?

Unless you have a specific desire/need to stop over in SFO why not try for a direct HKG-JFK flight?

I am doing a CX F redemption next week going from SIN-HKG-YVR-JFK. Booked it in early January. The AAngel found it on the phone for me when I told her my approximate dates and desired route.
