The cost of fixing the superjumbo A380 wing cracks has blown out by 50 per cent, with the repair bill to cost Airbus 158 million euro ($A202 million).
The cost is up 53 million euro from an estimate of 105 million euro just two months ago, because the fix is "more complex than initially anticipated in March", the airline maker said.
Airbus says it has now devised a permanent solution for for the wing bracket issues.
But the solution's engineering complexity is now putting pressure on A380 delivery schedules to airlines.
"The implementation in production of the final fix will temporarily generate headwind...", Airbus said.
While Airbus was still aiming to deliver 30 A380s this year, the task is "becoming more challenging", it said.
