Ok. So this might be a stupid question to ask... But I'm gonna ask anyway....

Going on a Singapore A380, first time on an A380 and very excited... Been wanting to go one FOREVER but can you get to visit the coughpit before or after the flight for a sticky beak?

Typically after they don't mind. Ask the cabin crew if they could pass a request on to the captain :) I used to do this on domestic sectors.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think its "that" easy to access the coughpit of an A380 in any instance because its either up or down stairs ie not on the same level as the upper or lower cabin decks.

There's a small flight of steps like 4 or 5 IIRC from the lower deck. When I did it end of last year on QF, it was simply ask the FA to pass on the request to the captain and after deboarding started walked straight through F from Y (where I was) into the coughpit past the flight crew rest area. Very straight forward and very easy.

For EK's A380 aircraft, the coughpit is on a "mezzanine" level with some steps leading to it near the lower deck exit. I was the 1st to disembark once we have taxied to the gate at DXB and noticed that the pilots had opened the coughpit door... Not sure if they do that all the time upon landing though.

On the QF A388 it's reached from the lower deck with a couple of steps maybe rising about 80cm in total.

Haven't been on an A380 yet, but flying in July, so might pass a request forward...
