A very very basic question re SCs [and Classic/AnySeat Awards]!

How do I book domestic or international flights to gain SCs using some points at least?

If I book a Classic Award Flight it appears I gain no points or SCs.

I assume I need to book a JASA for example - Any Seat Award?

If so how do I do this?
