G´Day,

A friend of mine living in Germany asked me if I could get him a real digiredoo (not the tourist version) as he wanted to learn how to play it. No problem I thought, shortly before my next trip to europe I purchased the said item for $35 and had it packed nicely in plastic popper sheeting. I joined the herds of european tourists checking in their new accquired gift/ souvenir at BNE had it tagged fragile with a nice priority label through to BKK via SYD.
Arriving at BKK.... no digiredoo, after a while at lost luggage I was told it had been traced on a flight to Taipee and it would be put on the next available flight back to BKK. Informing them I would only be in BKK for one night and would be travelling onto Frankfurt the following day. No worries....I was told they would get it to my hotel before I left to go to the airport (I gave up trying to tell them that I would pick it up at the airport!). Needless to say, yes you have guessed it, next day no digiredoo arrived, got to the airport went to lost luggage only to be informed that the said item had indeed made it to BKK but for some reason, no one could explain it, had been put on a flight to LHR. "No worries" I was told but the nice lady, give me the address of your final destination (my friend in Germany) and it will be delivered to you, gave me a tracking number and the telephone number of BA/QF in Germany.... any problems the nice lady said....you phone this number.

So after arriving at my friends house minus one digiredoo, we waited for a few days and phoned the number given asking if they had any news of the "lost item", yes sir hold the line I´ll check for you.......the news was not good, it arrived at LHR but unfortunatly it was sent back to BKK!! I was now begining to think was this all worth it for a "$35 digiredoo" but my pride got the better of me...I´m not going to give up. Sir your luggage (as it is now called) will be put on the next flight to Frankfurt and delivered to the address given.

Next day the phone rang......could this be about the "luggage"!!.... I´m calling from Dortmund airport (nearest local airport) lost luggage department we have your lost item and will send a taxi with said item within the next hour to your house, a distance of 55Km!!!!.
As promised 55min later the digiredoo arrived without any damage safe and sound after its long air journey and a $160 taxi fare!

Oh yes the irony of it all is my mate never did learn to play the "digiredoo"!!!

Kind regards, Traveller F

Nope, did not get stuck with the fare. Just asked the taxi driver out of interest what the cost was!.

Isn't it spelt didgeridoo?
Apparently so.

Now if it was bagpipes, I could understand it going missing .... and people not wanting it to be found again :p.

Q. what is the difference between bagpipes and a trampoline?

A. you take off your shoes to jump on a trampoline

G`Day

Isn't it spelt didgeridoo?

Yes I purposely put the wrong spelling in to see how many people would picked it up................like hell I did!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stand corrected (also very humbled for my teeerible, no... terrabble, no... terrabal.... oh bugger it.... my bad spelling )lol

Thanks for the putting it straight

Kind regards, Traveller F

It's straitman as in man of the strait, right?
Do you really need to ask? :p Happily married, from what I have observed, to a lovely wife Sue, lives in SE Australia and flies helicopters for a living. Although I cannot hold this against him. ;)

I don't believe he flies the choppers over Bass Straight though :) Last time I looked it was still a Strait!

I'm sure I saw the didgeridoo in Barcelona. It was slightly crooked.
