If anyone has this offer and is not using it I am 10,000 short and would love to use it.

:)

Hi! A newby here. Thanks for all the great info by the way (although I am probably still too green to understand it all!) But I'm hoping you might be able to help me - I have had a USDM account for about a month. When I try to purchase miles I get an error message that says my account is not eligible to purchase miles - does anyone know why this might be the case?

You said your account was open for "about a month". Approximations aside, accounts must be open for at least 12 days before you can buy, gift or share miles into them.

The promotion was intended to target those who had bought or gifted any miles last year. Then again, they may not have targeted all such people anyway.

+1

Either you were not targeted and/or your account has not been opened long enough

Thanks for your response. My bad for lack of clarity. Yes my account has been open more than 12 days (I checked, opened just after Xmas). Appreciate the promotion is targeted now so thanks - but shouldn't I still be able to buy miles at the normal (non bonus) rate?

Sure - you can do that.

If you are unable to do so, there is either a problem with the form of payment you're providing, or some other account problem (not easy to deduce, and the error messages are not very intuitive).

I have 107k points and a family member has 88k points. We want to fly F to NA through Europe and thus will need 105k extra points through this promo. Since we are both booking identical flights, can I just buy 100k miles, and my family member buy 5k miles, then tell the agent to draw points from both our accounts when booking the F fares?

As far as I know, this is not possible.

Both accounts must have enough points to book their own ticket each. That is, since you will require 150k points for one F ticket, you will need 150k points in each account.

So the 107k account needs to purchase 43k; the 88k account needs to purchase 62k. If you have the relevant promo, this should be easily achievable.

if you were a gambler, would you be betting on another points offer prior to 31 March? buy/ gift or share?
