I am pretty happy with my Thinkpad Edge 13" after 6 hours, for $450 delivered I am left with a few $$$ for a SSD, the 80gb in the X200T is getting a tad to small to be transplanted.

I see you've made your choice, but I'm happy with a p.c. I like that you can upgrade parts as you need, so a longer life overall, and is better value both upfront and through the longer life. Plus that flexibility means it works better.

My MBP has instructions on how to upgrade parts, the bottom has screws that allow access to the internals. So times have changed apple now seem to support user upgrades.

Let us know if you need a hand with anything.
Pretty much everything at the moment but I'm getting there :!:

Good choice, you just now need to get your internet working.
Don't talk to me about that. I was going to ring the Ombudsman today but all the Telstra phone lines in Gippsland are down today as well :!:

.... and the Mac just had its first crash
:!:

If you need anything windows, Parallels is cheap and so is memory (You'll need 8GB at least to run it smoothly; 16GB preferably but you'll also need to win Division 3 or better of lotto ;)). Parallels is cheap ($100 or so) but you'll also need a licensed copy of Windows to install.

Like notzac, if you need a hand just yell (I'm a mac-head as well).

Thanks for the thoughts.

I was being pushed and pulled in each direction by a few people and for a few reasons. For me games are a very low priority and reliability is a high priority.

I have decided to on a 13 in Mac Book Pro (i7) so only time will tell whether I'll regret or like the decision.
It should be easy for traveling and at home I'll still use it with a screen, keyboard and mouse.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app

Bill how heavy is it? I use that as a criteria as to superiority...........in my simple world

OK, question time for the computer gurus.

I am using Outlook for most of my mail but I'm using 'mail' that comes as standard on the Mac for one specific address. The problem is that if the email comes to my iPhone first it then does not show up in 'Mail'

I have tried but cannot see how to fix this. HELP :!:

Also what is the best way to transfer files from the PC to the Mac? (Mainly pictures and MS office documents)

Sounds to me like your iPhone is actually downloading the mail from the mail server, so when your computer goes to check for mail, nothing is there.

Who is your E-Mail service with? I'll can tell you where to go from there....

Is there a "leave a copy on the server" option of your mail server setup with your ISP?

Sounds like you are using an SMTP server, and the iPhone is removing the message from the server.

Have a look at your iPhone mail settings, drive down into "Mail Account"->Advanced and make sure "Delete from Server" is set to "Never"

Wow! So much so soon!

This is a gmail account.

As above so it is not ISP related (I think)

Yes it is using an SMTP server and the iPhone setting is set to never.

This problem only occurs using the program ‘Mail’ so I can get around it by using Outlook if necessary (I think, as it was not a problem on my old PC)

I have had the opposite problem with Mail - once it is downloaded to the iMac it can't be retrieved to the phone - so if someone leaves the mail app open you get no emails all day.

If you want to keep the accounts separate have you considered Thunderbird by Mozilla?

Interesting, sounds like a problem with mail then. I love my MBP, but Mail is the one app I don't use after it refused to do anything but crash loading my hotmail account.

Did you resolve the file transfer problems? Personally I have a heap of external drives (SSD/HDD/flash) that I would use.
