Received this email yesterday about a new card which earns QFF points while spending your own money; I'm not actively chasing QFF points but for those that are interested;
There are many credit cards on the market which enable you to add to your Frequent Flyer points through everyday spend. But soon you’ll be able to earn points while spending your own money.
Qantas has announced that its next generation Qantas Frequent Flyer member card will have in-built prepaid functionality. The card, called Qantas CashTM, will allow you to load the card with any amount of money you choose, to spend at locations where MasterCard is accepted. You will earn Frequent Flyer points on your spend and these will be credited directly to your account.
If you’re travelling overseas, the Qantas CashTM will double as a travel card, with members able to withdraw cash and foreign currency from ATMs in Australia and overseas. In addition, you can load the card with up to nine different currencies at any one time.
Key features of the card will include:

  • one card for use as loyalty membership, airline check-in and boarding, everyday purchases, travel money card
  • earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points for making eligible purchases on the card
  • several layers of security, including chip, PIN and signature to authorise transactions and ongoing fraud protection provided by MasterCard’s Zero Liability.
The new cards will be available to Australian-based members from the third quarter of 2013
