That is very funny but I understand the seriousness of your research.

Crown Lager should not be wasted....

I have it on "good authority" that the Crown lager is not wasted.

The dregs are collected, mixed with other bar slops and bottled as xx_X (or VB - choose your poison).

Now if this were happening to Hahn Premium, that WOULD be a disgrace!

They have aready done that - (when you can get it in a QP) the bottles are smaller. - :-|

Being a low effervescence beer, Crown Lager should NEVER be drunk from a glass. Assuming that the glass is clean and has no detergent residue in it, pouring a CL into a glass makes it look flat and what sparkle it has is quickly lost. It should be drunk from the bottle. Unfortunatelt the only QP that I have found that this is allowed in is CBR. Maybe in SYD or MEL the QP staff feel that some business baron is going to go beserk with a stubby. Not so the pollie crowd in CBR!

That is about as close as Greece is ever going to get to the Riviera. Some things are best left alone.....

Maybe i should have said mediterranean then.... it's not my fault im geographically challenged!

No comment needed or necessary :!:

They use a funnel in BNE because the xx_X they drink up there is a major health hazard if it touches the roof of the mouth... something to do with the water quality in Toowoomba I heard...

My first trip to QLD I stayed at the Marriott in BNE, was poured a glass of xx_X, took a sip, spat it out into the drip tray and switched to something else. The bar staff were a little shocked - but not as shocked as me after tasting it ;)

The first time I drank it - I actually swallowed my first sip.

The bottle is the best place for Crown Larger. Best if all the content remain in the bottle and the lid remains sealed. Then select a decent beer :p .
I'm with you, NM. Since when did a fancy bottle and gold wrapper make Crown a good beer? It's swill if you ask me. :D

Many years ago, when I had a passing association with the brewing industry (no, not as a drinker - well not that alone) I was told that the big difference between Crown and everything else produced by the then CUB was the extra effort to keep oxygen out of the headspace in the bottle. It was the oxygen that sends the beer off slowly and makes it unsuitable for export, which was the main market for Crown. Otherwise, the beer was indistinguishable from anything else.

Footnote: A friend of mine at the time reported seeing one of the bottling plants at work bottling VB or something when the labels suddenly changed to another of their brands, with no change in beer source. All were said to be interchangeable! I do not necessarily accept the veracity of that but I believe it to be reasonable.

A different type of beer disaster befell my last Monday having a quiet ale before dinner on the Trinity Beach sea front - the first of the smaller sized new fangled bottles of Cascade Premium!!! Yuck - only 330ml!!! I immediately switched to Boags in protest...

...the now junior sized cascade was the same price too as the larger bottles

Reminds me of when Streets downsized Paddle Pops. The packet said "new fun size". Fun for who?????

May well be true but I find it hard to believe. There is huge difference in taste and quality between Crown Lager and VB? Am I imagining the difference?
