For those of you lucky enough to be in London for the Olympics, you may have received an invitation to the Qantas Olympics Lounge at the Sofitel Hotel. I'm a Platinum FF, so I'm guessing that it is targetted at the top level flyers and VIPs that have flown in for the games. But full marks to Qantas, they have done a great job: free food and drink and visits from Aussie Olympians and other VIPs. A great way to recognise and reward their frequent flyers.

As a P1 in The UK at the moment, having flown QF F to get here, with no invitation, I'm more inclined to disqualify QF let alone put them on the podium for a medal!! :p

Actually I would have been unlikely to attend anyway.

Someone should try flashing their Velocity card to see if they can get in

Pleased you have enjoyed it. Do you have a lounge highlight?

Hi Red Roo

Just to reiterate is the one highlighted in bold below that we need to opt in to?

Points Balance and e-Newsletter - Your monthly points balance plus our latest news and offers.
Frequent Flyer Exclusives - Flight and travel offers, promotions and more.
Travel Partner Offers - Deals and point offers from our airline, hotel, holiday and car rental partners.
Other Partner Offers - Offers from shopping, entertainment, money, real estate and other partners.
Airline News - Keep up to date with the latest Qantas news.
Membership Updates - The best way to find out everything about your membership and changes to the program.

I have only opted in to 1,2 and 6 - avoiding the other partner offers. And I probably get the airline news before most people ;)

.....or perhaps not! Just checked my profile and every box is ticked.

It is not really an issue because I'm on a tight schedule, but I do find the inconsistency frustrating. If WP's and SG's are receiving offers and WP1's are not it could be construed that the value QF places on it's most frequent flyers is not as high as we were led to believe.

On a positive note I think the Olymics initiative was a positive one.

Slightly off topic but does the P1 team contact P1's prior to international trips or has that stopped now?

I received a call about an upcoming trip last month, they called while I was in the air on a QF international flight.
Last week I received the call from P1 about 30mins before departure while I was in the MEL FLounge advising there would be a delay.
Another experience I've had is P1 team calling me while overseas for no other reason other than to rack up my intl-roaming phone bill. So nice of them :)

If you would like a call before you fly - shoot me your number and my 4 year old niece will give you a buzz. You'll have a better experience :P
