For years I searched for the ideal wallet which I could fit in my pocket, carry a heap of bloody cards for the vast array of things that people assume we absolutely must have a card for, carry cash and have a coin purse.

I came to the conclusion that the less material for the wallet, the slimmer it must be when full and similarly, less zips the thinner (Velcro preferably) and definitely no buttons or push clasps as I destroyed a few cards with those useless inventions.

I also noticed that mens wallets are usually small. I thought they needed to be the full size of a pocket and well designed so the cards don't bulk out the wallet. I searched for ages. Trawled through market stalls ad nauseam all to no avail.

I did finally find one that is certainly not perfect, but the best I've tried so far (I picked it up at a touristy shop at BNE INT and is labelled Didgeridoonas), but until we convince people we don't need all the useless cards, it is still a fat wallet, which I can fit in my back pocket but I can also carry almost like (dare I say it).......a mini man-bag!

So I ask you guys.........which wallet do you recommend?

Here's the one I've been using.....

for when travelling - when I usually have a bag it can go in. Although it fits in rear pocket for short trips, e.g. check in to lounge.

I hate big wallets and try to carry the absolute minimum cards. Looking at yours you might have trouble deciding what to get rid of ;)
The only issue with the slim sleeve wallet is some countries have stupid big notes. Though I mostly make them fit.

I just did a card count for what's in the wallet.....31. Trouble is, I need them all at various times. I've tried separating them out into a travel wallet and "normal" wallet, but I tend to forget one or the other, which doesn't help.

Personally, I have a great idea for a wallet, but hey, I'm not a tailor!

I have a Bell Roy travel wallet and I really like it. Even with the passport and quite a few cards, it's remarkably slim - so much so that I just leave my passport in it all the time.

Everything (including my wallet) goes into my back pack these days - I can't stand having anything even the slightest bit bulky in either back pocket.

I hope you hold onto it carefully! I like my passport and cards to be on my body at all times.

I never put my wallet in a back pocket (aka the 'sucker pocket'). The Bell Roy travel wallet slides more neatly into the front packet of my jeans than my previous wallet. I think that is partly the result of a very good quality leather that has a nice firm, slippery finish.

I still use the Oroton flip top leather credit card holder and if someone could tell me where I could buy some more I would really appreciate it. Oroton stopped selling them but obviously everything they sell is a buy in from somewhere.
I have plastic cards for the US, UK and Australia so lots of different card holders.

I also like to have my passport and cards in a pocket with buttons.
But guess what, as I "have" to depert SYDi a lot of the time, the guards that staff the xray have said, everything out of pockets, (guess its in case a person is picked for the body scan sort of xray).
Like a muppet, I comply, so everything has to go onto the tray, or have them in the hand luggage bag, all to be xrayed via the xray machine.
I guess Aust airport int security are a scary bunch to none other than myself, so I don't dare to have my passport by itself or with cards in my pocket. Most likely the Aust guards are "honest" unlike some of the airport guards overseas, while one of them chats with you distracted, the other nabs something small.
Don't know what to do though, (for Aust int departures), ie, how to leave passport and cards in pockets without them seeing me fumble.
Edit: I don't have a wallet, as they usually are too small to hold a passport.
So far, coins go into underseat bag. Cash notes go into a certain buttoned pocket. Cards go into another pocket... all upended at int security.
Better to loose small change/notes, than to loose a whole wallet. Unless you carry a second "fake" wallet.

Maybe you shouldn't have taken the photo with the mug shot holder visible, (!!!) I am not that way inclined, but if thats really you (OP), the whole world now knows what you look like, and hopefully, thats not your address there either.

I have a small man bag. Just can't find s suitable wallet these days given all the plastic cards. I think we need more apps to get rid of the plastic.

I have a Shinola wallet, very nice. Shinola A bit more pricey than I would have bought originally but once I had one wouldn't consider anything else.

I have a magic wallet. I put money into it and by the time I go to spend the money it's gone:confused:. Meantime, if anyone knows where I can get a wallet that keeps wife and children out, please let me know.

Seriously though, I like the look of the Bellroy... Added to my Christmas list already.

A black leather wallet similar to this one but has to be a good copy of say Pierre Cardin, Calvin Klein, Armani etc purchased from Sydney Flemington markets. Inexpensive and lasts ~18-36 months.

I hope you hold onto it carefully! I like my passport and cards to be on my body at all times.
Wallet is in my back pocket most of the time but occasionally will keep it in front pocket. Passport is in shirt front pocket.

A few years ago I moved any cards I hadn't used in the previous fortnight into my travel wallet and surplus cards (eg ff cards I've used only a couple of times, electronic travel cards for "away" transport systems etc ) into a small box. When not travelling I seem to only use 4 cards on a regular basis, plus carry an ID card (drivers license if in oz, national identity card if in Singapore). It is seldom when flying that I even use FF card these days, unless wanting to game the system with status In one program and points to another.

For me, smaller the wallet the better, but I do like one with an outer pocket - which I can't find anymore. An atypical use I am sure but I use the outer pocket for my condo access card (RFID) for front gate/building access. Occasionally security want to see it, so easy to slip out of the outer pocket than have to go into wallet proper.

Yep, that's really me.....but an internet search can probably turn up a better photo for anyone that way inclined. Qld driver licences do not have the address on the front and if anyone can actually read the text through the mesh, they will learn what class of licence I have, the effective date and the expiry date. You raise a good point, but I don't think the details are worth anything spectacular.

I have been eyeing off one of those Bellroy travel wallets. Its listed as $119 Australian dollars including delivery. Like a lot of products, is the price much better if bought elsewhere?

It's called a smart phone
Get key ring app
Job done

Now this looks promising. Does it handle any loyalty cards? Hotels, airlines, hire cars? I'm assuming it can't do RFID or anything that needs scanning, like credit cards, health care cards, library cards etc, but anything with a bar code is OK? Anyone like to comment on the legalities of loading up a plain everyday ID card (gov't ID cards)?
