Went to watch the footy tonight (don't ask the score ) with my 10 year old daughter. We were sitting at the railway platform for the train to Robina when the airport train arrived on the adjacent platform.

My daughter quite seriously says to me, "You know Dad, we could always go to the airport and spend the evening in the DJ lounge".

Given the Titans.......well rather dismal performance, I wish we had!

Oh no...look what you've done. ;)

Double "oh no" if she exactly said "DJ" rather than "Virgin" or "Virgin Australia".

Oh noo! You've created a little monster!

Wait until she starts getting to the gate and going "Argh, a rogue aircraft. That's sucks"

Love it. Wish I could find the thread earlier this year which was along these lines of Junior FF's in the making.

Ha! I feel for you! My 8yo has tasted the F lounge and thumbs her nose at at JQ now.. she admitted tonight she was "sucked in" by the JQ ads as she wanted to fly with them as they went cool places! lol!!

Personally I'd rather got to the lounge than watch NRL!

This comes hot on the heels of her asking when she'll get her "silver" card (her red one only just arrived the other week and she has a grand total of 20SCs) and for an upcoming OOL-MEL trip, she wants to know if we are going to get an upgrade to those "nice big seats" like we got last time! (Sounds like a platinum FFer to me )

Of course I partly blame the DJ CS, Andrew for that ;)

My son is exactly the same! Frequently asks me how many FF points he has and when he will get his gold card (he wants to bypass silver lol)... His suitcase has my old silver tags on it, so he told his friends that he was a silver FF cos he thought that was what the tags meant ha ha ha...

My little kid is silver QF too and about to be status matched to virgin!

My Little Miss was unimpressed at being keft to her own devices while friends visited yesterday with two older sons. I found her in her room, packing toys and then clothes & pillows, into her suitcase. Curious to see where this would go, I helped take the bag downstairs. She got to the front yard, by now with a blanket on top of her suitcase, turned & asked me to take her to the airport. She wanted to go to Paris!!! She was unperturbed when I informed her she didn't have a ticket.

my 15yo who has more J flight OS than Y, goes thru her father's card wallet to check that he has the Amex Platinum in front of the Amex Visa. "Dad, more points on the Amex"...................Father has no idea...............he just pulls out the first one, and if they say don't take Amex then he swaps to Visa.....

Good to hear mine's not the only one then! (Although Paris does sound a bit expensive ;)).

My kids don't fly much, but I always love their different perspectives on things. My 6 yr old (having also spent time in the BNE First lounge) declared the other day that the Mackay regional lounge was her favorite - because there were no staff to see her pinching the cute little cake snack packs!!!!

I came downstairs the other day to find Master Gremlin (6) explaining to Little Miss Gremlin (4) that the deck of cards he'd laid out on the lounge room floor was actually a seat map.

Little Miss Four: Why are the Aces so far apart from the other cards?

Master Six: That's because they're First Class. We're in First Class today. Mummy and Daddy are in Premium Economy.... No hang on, I changed my mind. They're in Economy. But they have lounge access so they can sit with us before the flight.

Little Miss Four: Where are we going?

Master Six: Singapore. Uncle xx_X gave me five Singapore dollars. I'll be rich in Singapore.

Little Miss Four: Oooooh. How come we can't go to Canada? I want to go to Canada.

When I was a young lad, I was already distinguished from all my classmates when we got to travel to Asia once a year, occasionally twice. It was always in Economy - did get lucky a couple of times with some Business class travel - but as a kid your only difficulty really was sleeping on a plane. My friends hardly ever travelled overseas; the biggest highlight for some of them when they were on vacation was actually travelling out of the state!

Kids these days...what are we doing to them.... :-|

I'd been wondering about this, since you made this statement as I don't speak much of FFing at home.

Over the weekend, I was searching some flights when little Miss 10yo asked what I was doing. I replyed that I was looking for some flights for a holiday (which was true). She immediately said, "Are we going to the DJ lounge again and flying in first class"? (note she calls business, first class....I'll have to learn her a bit more betterer than that eh ;)).

So, I took the presented opportunity and asked why she called it the DJ lounge and she said "Because when we're in there, all you hear over the speakers is now calling all pax flying to Blah blah on DJ flight No blah, so I just thought DJ was easier for them to say than Virgin Australia and it's easier for me to say too"!

Out of the mouths of babes!

EDIT: Note to Virgin Australia. I think that deserves an immeditate staus upgrade for her to at least silver
