A crash from inside the plane! (Content now retracted)

The explanation given by the poster on youtube was they hit a pocket of warm air that caused them to lose ("loose"<sp>) altitude.
All survived.

Looked to me that the pilot was trying to stay just a couple of metres above the highest obstruction, whether it was the ground or the trees. He didn't have a lot of margin for error, whether it was a sneeze or an "air pocket".

Original description: This is unprecedented footage of a small airplane crash from inside the coughpit from two different views. Miraculously, everyone survived.
The pilot will make a full recovery and the rest of us escaped with
superficial injuries and feel very lucky to be alive . This trip was
much anticipated and due to our excitement we had our Gopro cameras
filming at various times. After flying up into the mountains for a hike
in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness we were planning on
flying to a small mountain town for dinner. Due to warming
temperatures we had a hard time gaining altitude. After taking off we
hit an air pocket that made us rapidly loose altitude, pushing us down

It took off settled back on the ground, took off again and failed to gain any significant altitude. Seems it could have been operating outside of its CG envelope, or perhaps the Atmospheric conditions were not viable for flight at the present weight. High Density Altitude on a Hot day! Thankfully no one was injured and the cause of this accident should be left up to the NTSB. I personally think he should ave aborted the take off when the plane settled on the ground the first time!

I saw this last night and apparently the aircraft was overloaded, operating in a mountainous area and at a height of around 9000' above mean sea level on a hot afternoon, the aircraft was at or near its ceiling height. Here's the original news article:

Pretty amazing - not only the footage but that no one died.

I thought the cause would have been overloading - it was clearly more than just 4 people, their must have been a lot of cargo too. I am surprised the pilot didn't say anything earlier, they clearly were gaining any ground after a 3 minutes, you wonder why he didn't put it down before the trees came into it.

It took a long time to get into the air, really looks weighed down.

I found it eerie the way it is so quiet, the lack of conversation and concern and swearing during and after the crash (unless it was edited out?) and the way he just starts filming again with the old guy on the ground rather than trying to reassure him or SOMETHING!

Cool that it had a little retro ashtray at the front of it. lol

It was that ashtray. Don't want to encourage illegal behaviour of smoking in flight, with all the longterm associated health issues. Good call.

Live lead had an image showing the angle of attack and saying it was close to stall, but from watching the video you can clearly see it didn't want to take off, shouldn't have pushed it!



