Hi, my first post since forever after dealing with the passing of my longterm partner in Dec 2019 and one month later saying goodbye to my mother, before Covid hit. Since that time I've moved home (twice) and relocated to Queensland where I'm building again, so much for being dormant. As a reward for doing life without a partner, parents or Covid, I've now booked a day Antarctica flight in February 2022. Should I take out travel insurance - technically a domestic charter flight on Qantas livery and if so what for?

2nd question- relates to VA Platinum Membership. Earned in 2016 after some major travel to Europe in J class and held constantly since that time. Was still current and earned until this month when I should have received a complementary renewal but that hasn't happened. The renewal came about because in 2019 - 20 period I completed J flights to Hong Kong, Bali x 3 and NZ x 4 + domestic x 3. In this period I had already done enough to stay current until May 2021, then prior to moving up to Queensland VA decided to offer complimentary continuation as we found ourselves locked down or shut out. I called VA and was told that as I had already qualified my membership would go then until 2022. It seems now that this is not the case. Should I ask for a review of my account?

Thanks - your opinions and views welcome.

Dear @Flanjam1 - I'm very sorry for your loss. If you like to talk more about it to someone, please ping me. I will be more than happy to listen. Also, welcome back!

Re : VA membership - I'd think a call to the customer service might help. Although, I'm not very sure as these are handled/processed on a case-by-case basis by the airline.

Re : Antarctica TI - I'm not very sure. Not my forte, unfortunately...

Re Antarctica flight. The real question is can you cancel/get $$ back if needed due to unforeseen circumstances (sickness?). They’re a lot of $$ to book so personally I would. Last thing you want in your life now moving forward is waking up that morning with an earache or some other illness only to realize you’ll loose your dough!. Just my 2c worth.
