A couple of questions from an AAdvantage newbie

Why do you indicate that?

Any married segment would be with (I presume) QR.
Just based on the married segments with QR, I know AA have been getting more strict over the years and I've seen anecdotal reports this extends to partner flights too.

I called and was told no - married segments. Would have to search for the whole itinerary. Put a new reservation on hold as a backup, ARN-xDOH-xBNE-PER but not ideal date wise.

Did some further searching and reading on other forums and HUACA seemed to be a recommended method. Tried again and the agent was fine with it. CC details taken and amendment has gone in to the queue for ticketing, so hopefully no issues. Now DUB-xDOH-xMEL-PER (bonus the last flight is an A330 at least for now vs B737 from BNE...shudder)

The entire call from dialling to hanging up post survey: 8 minutes and 9 seconds. Amazing hey, QF...

Benefit of this option is if WA never open/close again, worst case is I walk out of the terminal in MEL and go home. And I can get back VFF points I redeemed on a flight the next day MEL-PER.

Like everyone...been a while since i booked with AA...
just seen mileage expiry in June 22 and was wondering if simplest & easiest way is still family transfer, or donate to charity.... have done both previously, instant 18 months & move on !
Sometimes others have seen offers or such to earn a few points & so re-trigger dates.... just wondering ??
Thanks in advance...

I donated 1k miles yesterday
Looks like the award wallet method of picking up points for comments has gone
I tried the estore but Staples didn't like my Australian address or credit card

Is anyone having problems logging in to the AAdvantage site. I just get the "We're working on our site" page.

No trouble signing in but can’t seem to find and business awards back to Sydney from Europe except with MH! Thought things might have started to improve by now!!

the MH flights don't seem to be actually bookable.

I put a reservation on hold, but when I went to pay its say's I need to ring up, any advice on best numbers to call (preferably without hours on hold)?

You really won't wait long on hold if at all. Singapore number has worked well for me in the past though if you need an alternative

I just want to check with the brains trust here. If i book a flight for my partner (different surnames) on my account, it will be ok?

I am assuming that i can book flights in anyone's name but i just want to be certain as I won't be flying with him. I just want to be sure

Not a problem at all. You are allowed to book for your partner and the name doesn't matter. Very common these days.

Has there been changed or a tightening of the ability to use AA points from Aus?

In years gone by I've found plenty of availability on SYD-BKK route, mostly via KUL.

Just looking ahead to a trip in June/July next year and the vast majority of days come up with zilch.

Similar looking at Thais Royal Orchid programme which shows errors about no flights which obviously isn't the case.

Just folks with points to burn after a couple of lean years travelling? Or something happening on the FF front?

I'll give it until January then I'll start considering My with Amex points or a cash fare which is how I've gone about my next trip, but <$2500 AUD J return to BKK was pretty good even if the last legs a A321
