A couple of questions from an AAdvantage newbie

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

If all travel is on Qantas then DRW should be showing with checkmytrip (via the Amadeus QF PNR).

What does your AA SABRE PNR show?

In any case I would be contacting AA ASAP!

Placed a KUL-ADL-MEL booking 2 days ago...miles have been taken but not ticketed yet? 35k for J AA gave me the PNR but nothing showing st this stage. Thoughts? Travel is in 2 weeks

AA can take some time for ticketing.

The main problem for this is that partners can (and do) cancel award seats on hold but - as far as they're concerned - not paid for. It's always safest to ensure ticketing is done within 72 hours of the original reservation (not from date of payment).

For AA's own metal, not a problem, they can always create more award space.

I knew you'd have the answer! I'll give it tonight and check in the morning, if no dice I'll give them a call

I've booked several AA awards in the last few months, and all were ticketed within about 3 days.

Waited five days recently. It took calls on third and fifth day to sort out ... the last call indicated CC info was missing. Redid that and ticketed as I waited on the 'phone (I was asked to wait while it was being done).

I recently tried to pay for tickets and I had major problems. The first transaction with my Qantas Cash Card on line was fine, but the next one via an operator caused countless problems. Every day for 5 days I had to ring them to find out why it was not ticketed. Each time they told me that the Qantas Cash Card had been rejected and they would take the details again, tell me that everything was fine and that it was in the ticketing queue, but it never moved. The next day it would be the same story. In the end I paid with Amex and all was fine.

Does anyone know how long it takes to have miles credited back? I cancelled a booking yesterday and put on hold flights on EY which they told me will be on hold til 2 Jan. Just waiting for points to be recredited, which is frustrating as want to lock away these EY flights!

Had a look this morning and it looks all ok. I think I am just use to LM/USDM being very quick!

Now to work out how to burn miles for Christmas next year!

Is this a new feature?
I just made a CX/QF booking and tried the AA record locator in QF MMB.
It instantly converted it to the Amadeus PNR and added my QFF number (I was logged in at the time).

It's been there for as long as I remember... (it only adds it to My Bookings if your QFF number is on the PNR, otherwise you'll have to go through this process everytime).

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

With the recent excellent TR by Boomy, I finally took the plunge and booked an EY apartment using AA points. As I have never flown EY, I have the following questions from the experts here:

1) Do reward bookings on QF (using AA points) receive chauffeur drive? (I am flying to Europe and the first leg is on Qantas)
2) Do reward bookings on EY receive chauffeur drive (in MEL/SYD, AUH, etc)?
3) I believe EY's First passengers get 2 complementary nights of accommodation in UAE (and J passengers, 1 night). Does this extend to reward bookings as well?
4) One leg of my itinerary is on 777 (no seat on A380 was available). Does EY release more F seats on A380 closer to departure?

Thanks in advance.

2) Yes (at least it did for me) provided it is not a connection.
3) I have not heard of that.
4) On my recent flight SYD-AUH only three seats in the First Apartments were occupied. In the hours leading up to departure EY had made all remaining six seats available for redemption. Greater than 24 hours prior to that, they had not.

1) no - ticket numbers must be QF (081) or EK (765?) for chauffer drive (or Dubai connect).

AAwards are AA (001).

I flew apartments last week. I had an overnight I wanted to try and use this for. Tried online but couldn't complete the booking process so then called Etihad. No go. They sent me the terms and conditions and you can't get these nights when you're on any kind of reward flight.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Also as alluded to, IME I was on the 777 up until 24 hours before the A380 flight on the same day was scheduled and then all the 380 seats opened up, so I rang AA and re ticketed on that flight at about T-20

Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on the availability (very) close to departure. Cheers.

that could be a VERY fun boys weekend away - albeit extremely risky for the return home leg!

I don't quite follow... why (extremely) risky? I already got a F ticket on 777; the only "risk" being the possibility of not getting on The Apartment; I'm sure I'm tough enough to tolerate EY F on 777! ;-)
