I had a Ford Laser S with go fast pin stripes!

Not sure why they dropped “Escort” in favour of Laser… A guy at school (Yr 12) had one of original Escort hatches!

Don't know, but at a guess I'd say the Laser was based on the Mazda 323 floorpan and in 1979 Ford bought into Mazda, so it made economic sense.
Escorts would have been imported, Lasers were assembled at Homebush.


 
One for @Cossie. Pulled into a local servo last week right behind an ex Targa Tasmania prepared Sunbeam Alpine Tiger. Looked just perfect. Afraid I spent too much time talking with owner to think about a photo. Sounded glorious.
