Hi,

Just made an award booking using Krismiles through SQ for a partner award on LX travelling DXB-ZRH-LHR for next year in business. I called Swiss to add a lap infant for the booking and they want to charge +600 AUD. Price is not far off an adult seat in Y.

Their justification is that because it is an award booking they have to use the 10% of the IATA fare basis (see screenshot below).

"The ticket will cost about 10% of the standard price." Travelling with children | For a relaxed adventure | SWISS

Of course nowhere is "standard price" defined.

This fare is getting close to double the cost of a full flex J fare that I thought would be the worst case cost for an infant.

I have tried the AU and Swiss call centers and haven't had any luck getting them to budge....

Anyone got any other suggestions? Is it possible to get a travel agent to ticket the infant and add it to the existing reservation?

Just like fuel surcharges this is a blatant cash grab and an embarrassing joke for the airline.

I transferred miles to United to share a business class experience with my wife and daughter and firstly I find out they are increasing award costs and secondly that I need to pay some ridiculous, mythical, copayment for my infant daughter who is not using a seat.

I believe the co-payment for a simple SYD-BKK business class return is over $1500 and possibly $2000 if I book 2 x one-ways which is my preferred booking method for awards.

In whose warped mind is a one-way in business SYD-BKK worth $9000 and who pays it? I really feel like booking an economy return for the 3 of us using the co-payment and burn the miles on some warped routing for myself but then I feel like cheating my wife. Oh I get angry. This is not a game.
