Not so nice when its pouring with rain and a few hundred pax all trying to get out of the rain at the same time.
I guess that is not a problem for us here in Brisbane. Must be a Kiwi problem :p.

Am I the only one who like to use the external stairs, and enjoy the smell of burnt kerosene in the morning :?:
No. But combine that with the smell of diesel fumes from the old buses used at ATH to take you back to terminal it provided a nice early morning coughtail.

Nah - I've only had boarding by stairs in NZ on puddlejumpers and once an A320. The bigger a/c boarding by stairs in the rain at ADL, BKK, PER, ASP(!), JNB, FRA, VIE and I've probably forgotten a few others in europe.

I once deplaned from 747 in SYD, Gate 4 or something; a squadron of Squat buses was waiting to whisk us to the arrivals terminal. They used two stairs, one for F/J and one for the chavs. I was in the front row of WHY. Being one of the Chavs I was amongst the first to the terminal. ^
