Looks like VFF have are promoting their Pet Insurance promotion which I noticed on a VFF email. Link is here Online Pet Insurance for Cats | Petinsurance.com.au Australia

Some key points I picked up (or not):
  • From T's and C's below, VFF points credited within 37 days (I've seen previous identical promotion of 90 days)
  • I've done a dummy quote and a 1 year old cat in my area comes to around 18 dollars per month. I tried some others (i.e make it 10 years old) didn't alter the policy that much, even make it a dog made it only $24pm.
  • Payments can be fortnightly
  • I'm not sure if this is an ongoing promotion or for a time limit. It did not say "sign by xx_x".
  • 3 VFF points per dollar spent on policy.
  • Haven't seen anywhere about minimum time to sign up (Could be in the PDS, but haven't read through it)
  • There is a Promo code (I didn't have one), so that could make it cheaper if one could find (I haven't searched as yet)
  • The only comment I can see about not signing up multiple policies is the comment "Existing policy holders not eligible for this offer"...which likely to be interpreted the first successful sign up would be eligible and any subsequent if done at the same time wouldn't be, but you never know.
If the purpose is to get 5k points and closing, seems a bit of mucking around and risk of costs blowing out if points aren't paid in time.

Did you sign up @GSP?

It seemed like too much hard work for 5k VFF points so I passed at this stage. I already have a decent stash of VFF so paying a few premiums for a small amount didin't make me race out and jump in.

Anybody given it a go?

I have 2 cats and signing up for $400 a year does not seen like a plan to me as I can bet all KINDS of exclusions are in the policy!

Pretty much a year since it started. Obviously couldn't get them to renew.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It started in January 2020, so two years ago?

I wonder what the minimum contract length is before such partnerships are up for renewal.

You're better off just putting some money away in a savings account for things like this. I have a special account that I call my "holiday" account that I direct debit into every fortnight plus any extra money I get I try to chuck in there so I don't spend it just because it's in my regular savings account and I see something bright and shiny 😏 I try to think of this money as "invisible". I obviously do use it for trips but it's always there for other things like IF my cats need medical attention (so far they haven't needed anything major or expensive). Better the money in my "Savings Maximiser" account (which used to give great interest once upon a time - now it's rubbish) than going to some insurance company and I many not use it plus they'll most likely not cover my kitties in their time of need with exclusions like you said.

One of my besties is a vet and just opened up her own surgery. I asked her ages ago if she was going to offer some sort of "lay-by" system but no - I think vets get burned a lot. But they do that "Best for Pet" option - It would cost me $946 per year for 2 cats - it does cover yearly vax, unlimited consults and a few other things that I'd never use.

Yes, correct 2 years. The last 2 have been a bit of a blur :)
