Looks to be a pretty good deal - enough for a points break night (if they ever pop up on Aussie properties) - the last one was Canberra CP last August from Memory.

Am in San Fran for July 4th. Wanted to stay at Intercon but rates were 550USD a night excluding tax. However could be booked for 45000 (or 35000 plus 70USD a night) - pulled the trigger on the 100% purchase of points with the current promo and scored the three nights for 810USD which is much more reasonable.

Not sure how they treat Plat Amb's on points bookings in terms of perks - A thread on A US forum suggests not to get my hopes up. Still better than 1800 USD.

Wonder if they will enforce the T&C that you must have been emailed this offer to be eligible.

I hope you booked using the cash back sites, bookings with points can get quite high returns when a hotel is busy.

Thanks Markis - yes I used Ebates at 4.5%. I wasn't sure if they paid on points bookings - so I only assumed I would get it on the points purchase component - but sounds like it could be a nice rebate.

How does IHG work out what to pay the hotel?

IHG compensates hotels at a paltry amount until their occupancy hits 70% from memory, then they get rack.

Interesting - well hopefully given its the big holiday on July 4th it'll be a nice rebate - that or I can pray for Apple to host something at the Moscone Center across the street at the same time.

Just a quick one - I notice on the terms of Ebates that bookings paid for with IHG rewards points are not eligible for cash back? is that something that doesn't apply because its Points and Pay - or another example of spottily enforced conditions? thanks.
