55 SCs Short ex SIN

I've just worked out that my flights next week on AY won't earn me any QF status points as they took Z booking class out from Discount Economy earning at the end of Jan 2026. They were cheap but I thought I'd get something...any way I'm now going to be 55 status points short to keep platinum (year ends 31 May).

Any advice ex-SIN for a status run? I've looked at JQ to Bali but it is absolutely insane prices (700 SGD return) in the weeks up to 31 May. I can only fly weekends which is also a bummer.

I booked in February but was looking at booking in December when I checked the earning tables. Not sure they'll waive that if I booked in Feb.

Does anyone know how that would work with DSC runs? Would you get the 75% refund and then double the original J status credits?

Yes. We received DSCs at PE rates after a downgrade from PE to whY.

I was planning a night in London but the only day I can do the fares on BA were 8000 NOK! Everything is so crazy. I just had a thought I wonder if I can pay some more to Finnair that they change the ticket to A class rather than Z class.

Anything on MH? Could probably even do a two sector and come back cheaply on Scoot or vie versa.

Website states the change of Z class as Economy ( not the discount economy you booked) @tm84 - for  travel not booking
Sadly think you are out of luck chasing it.

Try an MH flight as suggested by @dajop
But check travel classes there too.

If you are booked on AY in Z class, that will earn you 30 status credits each way SIN-HEL as it is listed:

Finnair flights between OSL and HEL are often very cheap in J. Usually around $300.
Only a short flight so could easily do a same day run

It probably is genuinely a move from Discount to Full economy for earning - FT reckons Z on Finnair indicates a campaign fare, but it exists across all economy price buckets, not just in deep discount (even though yours evidently was).

That being the case, your Finnair SIN-HEL in Z should earn 30 SC each way making 60 SC. What class are your OSL flights?

As per recent posts, Z class on AY should earn as economy for travel from February 2026.

Qantas awards points and status credits based on the ticketed fare class letter, irrespective of how it is marketed. I.e. some “business class” fares get awarded as economy points based on their letter class in that table above.
