I just went past the number of status credits need for my next upgrade and lo and behold I get a bonus 5000 points - I guess this is in lieu of the old upgrade credits which they have done away with the in the latest "changes to the programme to help serve you better". Yes this has probably been discussed but I don't read everything.

So just in case anyone was wondering that's what you get if you're a Gold. Plats probably get 10 000???

Bronzes probably get a kick in the knackers.
Silvers probably get a kick in the knackers with a silver shoe.

They wish! EVeryone is the same, so your bronze who might take five years to get the 450 SC's will get 5K points, and a platinum who will get the 450 SC's in three months will also get 5K points.

THey paint this as a "loyalty bonus", I think it is a very condescending move on their part.

Still, it will get around complaints of being unable to use the UC's for international upgrades, since they will become few and far between in the future.

Congratulations indeed.

Mal - passed another threshold already. If you were that close why didnt you do a MR to get the UC pre 25 May?

I earned my last SC on my last flight before May 25th (carefully routed FRA-LHR-MEL-SYD-BNE to ensure I got it). And I will have three "loyalty bonus" credits before then end of June. that are quite easy to earn under the new SC earning tables.

I was around 40 points off it. But had no chance to travel enough on the last couple of weekends before the changes. Too many things on.

I am just glad someone else is paying the bills! The SCs are easy for me, but my travel is not so easy for the family. I hope I won't earn any more "loyalty bonuses" for a few months. At the beginning of April I had one UC. By the end of June I will have earned a further 3 UCs and 3 loyalty bonuses. That's 2750 SCs in 3 months - and I had more than a month at home in that time!

And that rate of travel takes it out on me as well. I am currently at LAX (typing via T-Mobile WiFi in the Flagship Lounge) part way through a 36 hour journey from my hotel in Kuala Lumpur to another hotel in Miami. Now, just what meal am I supposed to eat when, and when should I sleep? At least they have JW Gold here in the lounge and some nice nibbles for all 8 of us in the lounge at the moment).

For those mathematically inclined, and for consideration when doing Mileage Runs, note that this works out to be 11.1 points/status credit. So a Zone 1 return will effectively get the frequent traveller 2222 pts in discount Y or 2444 pts in K,H,B or Y classes, or 3388 pts in J!
