500 bonus starpoints for using app for reservation in AU, FJ & New Caledonia

Just noticed this online tonight:

Use the free SPG App for iPhone®, iPad® and Android™ to book your next stay or just to save your reservation details and you will be awarded with 500 bonus Starpoints® per stay. Simply display your stay information or reservation number through one of the SPG Apps at check-in time. Offer valid until 31 December 2014 at participating hotels and resorts in Australia, New Caledonia and Fiji only.

The app is great. I do all my SPG bookings using it and it's nice to get an extra bonus for that

The way I read it is you do not even need to book through the App but just save it and show it on check in.
I am not sure what they mean by save it though, it appears on the App anyway unless they mean Passbook but I am not sure Android has a similar feature.

I have a booking for this Saturday night so will see what happens.

At Check In they said SPG would automatically credit the points, but I was not confident the Check In person knew of the promotion.
I also emailed SPG about it and asked for clarification, and found out all you need to do is show the reservation on the App - no need to of been booked through the App etc.

It is only valid for bookings made from May 16 onwards as per the terms and conditions - I had booked back in January.
I have suggested to SPG that this needs to be made clear with the text above and not "hidden" away on another page.
I received an email back saying thanks for the suggestion and that Hotel want to give me the points anyway - nice

sowed mine on check-in, they new all about it, but my stay points and bonus earn away points have issued but not the 500.

I believe it is 6-8 weeks for the points to show up under the promotion T&Cs

Disappointed to see this 'vanish'. I was queued up for a good 5000-10000 points on this promotion.

I had looked for this promo T&Cs again as I have a booking in 2 weeks time that I would of expected the points for and wanted to make sure it would earn the points.
Oh well, and the promised 500 points from my mistake I mentioned above did not ever come through
But on another promo I received more points than I expected

This promo is definitely canned doubly confirmed by Starwood. Thus and the Accor Aeroplan one... 2 strikes!
