Velocity - Specials

Only for the departures in the last week of March.

Great value and a great way for boosting pax numbers for the March stats!
Economy - 47k return
PE - 70.5k return
Business - 94k return!

:D

Great value! Even better if you firstly transfer points over from your Amex account with the current 25% bonus ;)

wow... someone is desperate to put bums on seats.... hope they are going ok?

but whoever can take advantage of the special will be laughing!

2 things at play I would say - given the VERY SMALL time widnow for flights.

1) They really want the load factor to look good for their first full month of ops
2) It's just another promo to run before the QFF direct Sweep cut off - could prevent points moving to QF

The second point moreso than the first - start up month load factors are pretty meaningless and everyone expects them to be bad anyway.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

But Dave, after all the hype you guys have put out, how could that be?

I might kindly suggest that if you had a decent FF program a lot more people (like me) might fly your airline.

Until then, well maybe, no. If I fly to LAX and back on UA, I get 30,000 miles credited (a US domestic return flight plus a bit more).

If I fly V Australia, what do I get? There you have it in a nutshell...

Thanks Dave. We're off (via Sydney, uugh) Sunday week. So far the February skiers have posted great reviews, and I'm looking forward to Melb-LA next January.

It's a little unfair to quote your earning rate at PE or 1K rates - you'd get bonuses flying DJ/VA etc as well if you were elite.

I mean - who'd want to fly on UA unless they got a better FF program? If I fly SYD/LAX/SYD I get ~30k QFF points, enough for a domestic return flight. If I flew on UA, I'd get ~15k miles (well, actually I'm PE so I'd get more, but let's look at the average Aussie here), which I can redeem for exactly nothing here in Aus. Even in the US ~15k miles doesn't get me anything on UA. A standard return FF ticket is 50k miles IIRC.

i think the main issue is that no one seems to be able to get flights on the "partner" airlines when using velocity points.

This is probably the biggest sticking point for me transfering points over to velocity.

i may not love QF, but at least over the last few years I've been able to book all the flights i wanted for holidays. being a bit flexible with my travel dates has helped with that.

what's the point of having say 70K worth fo points for a standard reward flight with Emirates only to find they wont release a seat for you?
