I booked a SGN-SIN-MEL sector via Zuji;
SGN-SIN (operated by 3K)
SIN-MEL (operated by EK, but brought on a QF code)

and I was wondering if 3K will transfer my bags onto the EK flight, which I've been booked on with a QF code (QF8404). I am unsure if these are separate bookings as I booked all the tickets at one go with Zuji.

The transit is 10 Hours, so I would like to get and around Singapore before catching the night flight back to MEL.

Any info is greatly appreciated! :)

I'm not sure that they will interline your bags. However, worse case is you can store your bags in the basement at Singapore airport for a nominal cost. Changi also has early check-in for some flights; 3K may be one of them. Have a look at the Changi website, it may tell you.

If they can't do it in SGN then go to the transfer desk at Changi and see if they will retag your bags behind the scenes.

If that can't be done then clear customs, grab your bags then put them in storage until later on. It would probably be too early to checkin at that stage.

Considering EK actually codeshares on that SGN-SIN flight you would think that they'd be capable of transferring your bags.

The checkin person in SGN will be looking at a Zuji itinerary with a QF flight number SIN/MEL so the fact that the oncarriage flight is EK metal will probably escape them.

IMHO they will either say no point blank to any oncarriage or agree to do it irrespective of whether the oncarriage had a QF or EK flight number.

Thank you for all of your helpful replies! I have quite a long transit time in SIN, so I'm not too bothered, but it would help a lot (and be less stressful) if 3K can check my bags all the way through to MEL!

Just an update:

I did the flights and indeed the bags were checked all the way to MEL! Even though when I called up the man on the line said otherwise, the check-in agent just saw the itinerary and checked it through no questions asked!

I wouldn't waste the money calling up & asking over the phone as call centers wouldn't have a clue what happens at the airport.

If you're going to ring anybody, call the airport eg BAC in BNE & ask them who the ground handler is for xyz airlines & for their contact number then ring them direct.

Some airport websites even list all the ground handlers and their phone numbers.

That way you are speaking directly to the people who know the checkin rules because they do the checkin.

Take any other advice from other sources with a grain of salt.
