Hi Everyone,

(first post, sorry if this has been discussed before)

My year is up at the end of August and I will be 30 SC short of Silver. Is there anything I can do besides booking another flight? (my last flight will be a week before the end of the month)

Do they give you an extra time or can they upgrade you within a certain range?

Cheers,
Nick

Not normally known to upgrade you best thing to do is look for say Brisbane - Melbourne Same day return as a cheapy of even look at Deathstar and add a bundle to get credits. other than not much option top reach Silver with the assistance of a QF Freebie.

Oh and welcome on Board Happy travels

Have you looked at the cost to upgrade that trip to a class that earns more SC?

I would have to upgrade both legs of my flight to and from Sydney (16000 points) in order to make the 30 SC. One way upgrade wont be enough. Something to think about I guess.

You cannot use points to upgrade and get SCs unless its an Any Seat Award.

No extra SC on upgrades. You only get SC for original class booked.

You would need to pay $$$ and upgrade from Red e-Deal to a Flexi Saver to earn more SC.

If you have purchased a rede-deal which will earn 10 SCS between MEL-SYD you will earn 10SC, you could amend the booking and then upgrade it to business class that will give you 40SCs and then that would get you silver.

If you have already purchased a flexi save on MEL-SYD which will earn 20SC then you a best taking another flight.

Qantas won't upgrade you to a status you haven't earned, but they MAY keep your status once you have earned it if you fall short. [hint] Red Roo.

That was addressed above, OP would only get 40 SCs if they purchased J. If they upgraded they would only get SCs for original class/fare.

The suggestion to upgrade is to pay extra cash for business as I read it. Doing that will result in business earning. The OP mentioned a points upgrade, which will earn as per the original booking.

That was precisely what I was saying. Paid upgrades would earn the higher rate as opposed to points which wouldn't.
