Because in the Y cabin, QF hasn't got any great benefit over the (non-LCC) competing airlines? And they would rather sell (for $$) the premium cabins?

Agree that taxes kill this.
Based in Cairns, checked flights to japan... Jetstar has the flights for ~$460, qantas has it for 38k points plus ~$360 in taxes using the above promotion.

how do you book an award flight via the qf app? I am assuming you select the pay with points function? I have noticed that the points are much higher??
