HKG-SYD return for 48,000 QFF points and HKD1201. Bargain!

I remembered my first ever redemption award in 2002, I did QF Y SYD-HKG return for 30000 QFF points and 121AUD taxes. It was a bargain as it was a 40% off offer. I was REALLY HAPPY with it at that time as it was limited offer and had to travel within 1 month, and I just saved up 30000 points!

I had to ring QFF centre from US (I was at USA then for work) and pretty much took the first available flight out of SYD (those redemption seats went quickly!). It was a 6am flight from SYD-BNE, then BNE-HKG departing at 11am. So I ended up visited my friend and had breakfast at Brisbane city.

So that allowed me to go back to my hometown first time since migration to Australia.

Those were the days.....

Economy redemptions are barely worth it with the high fuel surcharges (that no longer exist on paid tickets)

That's really interesting.
My question is how come you get the offer and I don't know anything about it till reading your post?
And if the offer isn't sent to me - is it actually available to me? I;ve just tried return Hong Kong to Melbourne in August, and it comes up with 70,000 points for me - no bargain there.
Regards,
Renato

Thanks for getting back to me.

Going out on 2 Sep and coming back on 10th Sep, both legs with Qantas, it was 60,000 points.
So is the latter with the discount, or did you see anything indicating a discount on your page?
Regards,
Renato

I don't believe it's targetted. Travel between 01 October 2015 and 31 March 2016.

The 70,000 QFF points for MEL-HKG would be for CX flights? You won't get 20% discount on those flights.

Not targeted, I didn't receive offer yet discounted flights as above OK.

At $48k to HKG return could nearly stand it in Y but not that overnight return.

Economy on Qantas 747 is a luxury. Love it. Dread the day these planes are retired.

Now how to snag bulkhead without paying.

2/2 adult accounts received the offer ... whY, whY, whY ... it is Y :(
