Quick question, I am traveling QF SYD- LHR next month with a domestic connection to SYD. Domestic flight gets there approx 4hrs before SYD-LHR. As WP flying J will be using F check in. Will they accept bags more than 3 hrs before? Is there an official policy on this as I would prefer to spend longer in the F lounge and less time at the food court and have had variable success with early check- in previously?

Princess Fiona,

I regularly have a similar waiting period before boarding on my QF flight to London.

I stand to be corrected but I believe you have 2 choices:

1. Check bags all way through from original domestic airport (if it's regional make sure your checking baggage in 60mins beforehand as most staff don't do international travel often);
2. Use International Bag drop at T3 (far left counter as you walk into terminal).

Either way you should be able to use the transfer bus and once in T1 make your way through customs to the lounge without needing to sit in the food court.

I would do ozavanti's option 1.

Just bring both e-tickets to the domestic connection to international flight check-in counter.

You'll miss the SYD "F Check-in" experinc, but it's not that special (although you could drop by off the bus for an express pass or two).

I'll try option 2. I'm flying Aeropelican to T2, whilst they will through-check bags to a QF domestic connection, they will not do so for an international flight. Thanks for the tip about T3 bag drop. I'll swing by the F check in counter for express passes and a seat to fill out departure cards as Serfty suggests. I'm not sure why Aeropelican won't through check bags, they are now a QF partner airline :-(
