2am flight MEL - SIN

Hey, so I’m flying out of Melbourne for the first time and my flight is at 2am MEL - SIN
Do I check in at the airport at 11pm?
It just seems so late?
Will airport security still be open?
If anyone has flown on this flight I would appreciate the help.
Also the flight is on my 25th Birthday (cue the midlife crisis lol)

Yep, flying virgin domestic and emirates international. I talked to a friend who is from Melbourne and I was told Melb is just one airport and I just have to walk to the international terminal

Virgin arrives at T3 so just follow the signs to T2 and head upstairs to International Departures... What time does your domestic flight arrive?

Emirates check-in should be open then for the earlier flight so you can try asking if they can check you in, and you may even have time to hit the town for your birthday returning to the airport before the clock strikes 12 (like Cinderella)?

Yes, check in anywhere from 11pm.

Security will be open!

MEL is actually pretty busy around that time with lots of departures around midnight.

MEL airport is 24/7 but this does not mean everything is 24/7

Runways and ATC is 24/7
Passenger services - checkin, immigration, security, baggage will be open to support all scheduled services but won't be sitting around if the next flight is 6-8hrs away
Possibly there will be staff on call for unssheduled arrivals/emergencies
Shops and duty free are not necessarily 24/7.
Airline lounges have their own hours: For example, The EK MEL lounge is (according to their website) is only open 0300-0600 (supporting EK409) and 1800-2200 (supporting EK407). Is this correct that it does not open for the 2am EK405?

The EK MEL lounge is (according to their website) is only open 0300-0600 (supporting EK409) and 1800-2200 (supporting EK407). Is this correct that it does not open for the 2am EK405?

As the 2am departure only commenced a few weeks ago I am sure it’s just a matter of the website not being updated. In fact with the end of DST, and all of the flights now departing an hour earlier the lounge would close at 0500 and 2100 respectively now, so website definitely out of date.

I'm flying EK405 in F in a few weeks, so I am keen to know what the lounge situation and earliest check in time is for this flight!

Good question. They’d certainly keep it open continuously for the 0225 and 0515 departure the question is would they close it for an hour or two after the 21:15 departs (i.e. close at 2100 and open again at 2300).

Before the pandemic, EK staff allowed me to remain in the lounge after the earlier flight EK435 had departed around 9 pm until my later flight (EK433 to SIN) but that was in BNE though...
