There's got to be a connection somewhere if it's the same merchant.

Hi everyone :)

Heading to the US (and Fiji) next month and just want to make sure I've got this right. I'm better off using the 28Degrees for general credit card purchases, and the Citibank Visa Debit (credited beforehand) for withdrawing cash from ATM's?

Thanks!!

My card scammed the other day with Air Canada as well - Just over $1000.
Only use it for Ebay purchases

Unlucky, but they are good with sorting these out.

Interesting, just logged in and it asked me if I've received my new 28 Degrees Platinum Mastercard (was due for expiry). That's fine, but since when was it a Platinum card

A year or so now. It was on the statement or somewhere. Pretty low key.

You're really gonna struggle if you don't do this part - It's just a bank account ;)

While the Citibank card will still be cheaper, note that in the US the local bank charge seems almost unavoidable...unless perhaps you find a Citi ATM?

Yes, but you just withdraw enough each time to make that charge a very low %. e.g. if the charge is $2, withdraw at least $400 so its 0.5% or less.

With the US local bank charge, that will apply to just about any other card that you may use as well, as its levied by the US bank on cards they don't have a deal with, which is the majority.

Anyway, its usually not that hard to find a 7-11 in the US, they'll all take the Citibank Plus card with no extra fee.

Are we talking about just buying goods here...or also getting cash out?

ATM usage in 7-11 stores in the US is generally free for Citibank customers (and are often Citibank branded)
