Speaking entirely for myself. I think a Lifetime recogniton of QFF most loyal flyers above LTG is desirable. I am not looking for a HIGHER status than WP at all, however it would be nice when I got to 24,000 SC's that LTP was available.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but what happens when people start getting LTP?

Also, from QF's perspective, does it give you much motivation to keep flying QF once you've got the top level forever? They removed Anytime Access for roughly the same reason...

I can't remember the program, but ISTR there is at least one which offers 'official' life time "Top Level" status.

However, the one I am thinking of is age restricted and a member must be 55 (?) years or older and have a humongous amount of accumulated status to qualify.

I think that's the LH Model Serfty, but l'm not 100% sure myself.

Reggie, that's a lot of flying. But, l guess when Ansett collapsed, there really wasn't an alternative?

Don't forget, "most" people (I would say the majority of 'em) who rack up 1000's of SC's are usually getting a helping hand from work.
It's not like RIO or BHP or Woodside (insert big multi national corporation here) who spend $100k (and the rest) per week on QF are paying market price on J tickets. I have friends who have shown me that Woodside (for example), are buying Red eDeals and getting FULL Y fares. The ticket comes up as a Red eDeal in the my bookings, but can be changed up until 1 hour before the flight. Guess when you spend that sort of money on anything, rules always change.

They'd almost certainly be on a private fare, with negotiated terms. Depending on the level of competition on the sector in question, will be reflected in the cost/flexibility that Qantas would be willing to provide.

to update, i sent qantas an e-mail earlier today asking whether i could get my bonus 50,000 points. got a call within a few hours, and was awarded the points while on the phone. i asked whether qantas were going to send me any correspondence for me to pick the reward - and was told that i had to call them!

so if i never called/e-mailed, i would never have received a thing. makes me wonder what happens to those people who have no idea of a bonus at 2,400 status credits...

It'll probably be automated from May 3rd when it all switches to 2,400. Guessing Qantas decided not to implement IT system to cater for the interim.

The letter i received with my first AIR magazine said top 3% of QFF's. Oh well.. I average 2500SC's / yr and still get my copies.. 95% of my SC's on OW Flights..

We must have gotten different letters - I got mine with issue 1 (I have had every issue since)
