After talking with the wife last night we had decided to go to the UK/Ireland in April/May 2017. Great I thought here is a good excuse to fly in on SQ Suites and out on EY Apartments.

I have a decent stack of VA & KF Points but thought I would look at my other options to avoid the UK Air Passenger Duty as paying nearly $600 in taxes for EY isn't really how I would like to use my VA points especially as I will already be paying surcharges on SQ.

I realised I can use 40k AA points to combine OW and EY to go from DUB-LHR-AUH which will drop the taxes back by close to $500.

Excellent I think, I am really getting a handle on this points game now time to drag up that AA email to see what the points bonus offer was...and it closed yesterday.

I am hoping that there will be another offer before the cut off as my plan will be to book two seats before 22/3 as far in advance as possible then just use the free date change option with AA to push the flights back to my desired dates once it opens up.

Ticket valid for 12 months only. You cannot extend it more that 12 months beyond the original issue date.

Ahh that may make things tricky. Thanks for the info.

Hopefully the buy miles cost decreases with the devaluation, unlikely I know.
