2026 travel plans

We loved Tokyo so much this year we've booked the sequel next March - though we are going to make this a bit of a broader Japan trip by also including Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima (plus another day trip to Nagoya to visit Studio Gibli Park).

We missed out on a baseball match at Tokyo Dome this year (we got to a Swallows game at Meiji Jingu Stadium instead), but this time we'll be catching 1-2 Team Australia matches at the World Baseball Classic at Tokyo Dome.

So far, my wildcard destination next year that I'm excited about is Niue. I love exploring random islands in the oceans and this one looks like it will fit the bill nicely.

I still owe the forum a trip report from Nauru Airlines' Island Hoper as well.

Curious, how are you going about booking WBC tickets? I heard they're not the easiest things to get as a non-Japan resident. Or maybe I heard wrong; tia

2026 will be the year where I will obtain Lifetime Silver with Qantas and chasing for Lifetime Gold.
So:
Europe January 2026
Japan February 2026
Australia February 2026
Hong Kong June 2026
Japan July 2026

Single game tickets go on sale mid-January Tokyo Pool C Tickets | World Baseball Classic | MLB.com

We'll be there for the Australia v Japan and Australia v Korea matches.

The Australia v Japan match I'm not overly optimistic I'll get tickets for so I'm viewing this as a bonus game (and if we miss out, it's an extra night to explore somewhere else in Tokyo)

The Australia v Korea match should be relatively easy once tickets go on sale, as should any of the other Australia matches.
