So you are obviously being dragged along kicking and screaming…I got roped into planning flights, trains, accommodation etc and then roped into going along.
Firstly I have no idea why I decided to put this in the Travel Plans for 2026 thread. After being retired for 15 years I do have problems remembering what day of the week or specific date it is but the year!So you are obviously being dragged along kicking and screaming…

Was there two weeks ago, and they were rehearsing for the big day. I love Singapore, everything that Australia could be and should be.In 10 days time we will be heading off again. Singapore for a couple of days, during the weekend of their 60th anniversary of nationhood celebrations, then QR to Berlin for 6 days. And then just under 3 weeks in Poland.
A friend/cousin of my wife is a keen artist and wanted to attend an art symposium in Poznan and asked my wife to go along with her. I got roped into planning flights, trains, accommodation etc and then roped into going along.

Re Uganda: I walked the Ruwenzori Mountains ("Mountains of the Moon") some 35 years ago and it remains probably the best thing I ever did travelling. Was rather primitive in those days but there were huts all the way and we had guides and porters with the whole walk costing about $US100 including meals (7 days). Back then there was a LOT of swamp to cross and you needed a guide to point where to step next. I assume most of this is boardwalk now and the huts would have been upgraded. Absolutely no idea what it's like now and I'm afraid to look it up.Deciding between doing an Intrepid tour of the five Stans in central Asia or a couple of weeks in Uganda to (possibly) see the big five plus trekking mountain gorillas for my main trip of 2026.
Will probably do that later in the year and am looking at a shorter and/or cheaper trip to Honkers and China earlier in the year. Something like HK>Chengdu for the pandas>Xi'an for the terracotta warriors>Beijing for Zhongnanhai etc.
