2026 F1 Thread

It's Honda's home race, so surely some more jokes about the AMR-Hondas, Jonathan Wheatley leaving Audi as Team Principal to (reportedly) take up the same role at AMR, VER complaining about his lack of power steering whilst being held off by GAS. Likely similar jokes as before, but scope for some additional stuff. Besides, half the fun of race reviews are some of the running jokes ;)
Max’s portrayal is mint in the Lollypop series. Love that he compares his cough performances to the Sadillacs!!

Not your question to answer, but how on earth is that "woke"? 🤷‍♂️

Japan, like many countries has very strict laws about giving alcohol to underage people. If he wins at Miami expect to see the same :)

I like F1, but it is most certainly woke.

The whole sport is at pains to say drive safe, dont drink and drive, be responsible etc...

Then after doing 3 times most countries speed limit for 2 hours, on the podium, they literally have a bath in champagne, this seems to have extended to the winning teams photo now.

Similar theme is we care for the environment...LOL...sure by burning through 600 tyres and thousands of litres of fuel each weekend. Yes I know its Ethanol etc...

I miss the good old days when Mansell/Prost/Hunt etc would win, kiss the bikini babe, scull the champagne, punch out a photographer that got too close and light a smoke to relax.

I watch for entertainment not to be lectured at by Sir Lewis on what Im doing wrong by existing.

I’m beginning to think the safety car rubbish, which is necessary, but very unfair that some teams can game the system to win a race they never would have won in a fair race. Should be changed to add a 10s or so penalty if a driver takes a stop under safety car to even it out,

Simple soultion is to close the pit lane during a SC period, so NO driver is disadvantaged.

Having been a big fan, watcher and follower of F1 for 50 years, your memories are a lot different to mine. Having watched the greats like Alan Jones, Nikki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, and Michael Schumacher, and seen interviews with the likes of Jackie Stewart, none of them were the playboy types, they were incredibly focussed individuals who were great on the track and fought for drivers' safety and share of the dollars. James Hunt certainly was a brave man when he pulled Ronnie Petersen from his burning car.
Thankfully technology now allows us to watch F1 whenever we want - the old days of waiting until 2am to watch a race have gone. Now, we can watch what we want, or not.

I have many memories of firing up the VHS before 5am Mondays, watching last night's recorded race; fast forwarding through the ads and boring bits to finish around 6am; ready to prepare for work.

Watching Alan Jones win in 1980 was a great experience. Thankfully my house mates were also racing fans so there was three of us cheering him on. We didn't care what the neighbours thought.
